Silky Smooth waterfalls technique with 'Aqua Canvas', Wilderhood recitals by Pratap J Rao

Welcome back to Second week of 'Aqua Canvas'. We'll learn about how to make waterfall silky during monsoons! This is one of the popular way of capturing the waterfalls and stream flow in to make it look silky waterfalls!

One of the most popular technicquies of shooting flowing water is to make it appear silky. This is achieved by slowing down the shutter speed in the exposure. How does one control the shutter speed?! For that, you need two essential accessories:

  1. A tripod
  2. A Neutral Density (ND) filter

The ND filter attaches to the front of your lens. It is a piece of dark glass. The purpose of the ND filter is to cut the amount of light that enters the lens. This effectively decreases the shutter speed of the expsoure. When the shutter speed is low, you need a tripod to get a sharp, blur-free images. Hence to take a photograph that has a slow shutter speed, you need a tripod.
